What are arts-based methods?
Arts-based methods pair art-making (like drawing, photography, poetry, or collage) with an interview or focus group. Participants create something, then talk about it. These techniques open conversational doors that standard interviews alone can't, and are especially helpful with people who rarely complete surveys, over or under-researched communities, and topics that are hard to put into words.

“A thoughtfully designed online, interactive course on ABMs. Packed with practice for the participants and examples of what did and didn't work for the instructors. The principles of risk, consent, equity, values, reflection and integrity are woven throughout a dense overview of the more common ABMs. A great place to start your journey toward integrating these methods into your reflexive practice and, eventually, your work as an evaluator.”
